Vein of Vengeance

Vein of Vengeance is a slightly supernatural or fantasy themed mystery visual novel adventure game with a touch of romantic and legal elements. The story follows Robin Carter, an ex-lawyer whose world was shattered after being betrayed by those closest to her. Her emotions went out of control and she might have done something regretful. The thing is, she doesn't exactly remember the events that have transpired, almost like her mind was trying to suppress everything concerning it. But as a trade-off, from that moment on, she started hearing a voice in her head. A guilty conscious, a split-personality, unexplainable blackouts... she didn't know if she was going crazy or what the hell was happening. Desperately seeking help to no avail, she started to accept that voice in her head may not be as imaginary as she first believed. That voice... is the player.

Game features various unlockables, most of which are dependent on player's choices in the game. Achievements list the action necessary for unlocking them. Character art is unlocked by finding character sketches in the game. And magazine art is unlocked by finding magazines in the game. Only achievements are fully unlockable with every release, while characters and magazine covers can only be partially unlocked, while most will become unlockable in future updates, mostly due to the fact that they appear much later in the game.

This game was initially going to be a detective/noir game for which development started back in 2010 which is why some of the backgrounds were 720p images upscaled to 1080p resolution. Aside from the name of the main character, pretty much everything else has changed, story-related. Back then, "Vein of Vengeance" was an RPG game I was also working on (whose title switched to this project), and "Retro Act: Rearmed" was a remake project I was working on and mostly finished but never put together. So not to go to waste, that game's story is included inside this one as a part of a TV series. For many years these projects were abandoned, but thanks to Ren'py making visual novels easy, this new project was born out of all the content of the other three put into one.
